The Great Minnesota Get Together

Every year I so look forward to the Minnesota State Fair! I love, love, love it! This year we begged Nana, Papa, Amy and Luke to come up for the weekend so we could all go together. You know, six adults to one baby would surely be way easier than two adults to one baby.

Joe and I learned just how truely blessed we are and what a mild-mannered, laid back kiddo we have. We walked through the gates of the fair at 7:30 a.m. and walked back out around 1:30 p.m. Mateo was an absolute angel. We saw the animals, the bizzare, ate and even ran into someone we knew. The weather was great and it wasn't super crowded.

The trash sculpture. Every year an artist creates a
sculpture from the trash found in the Mississippi

A huge thanks to Nana, Papa, Amy and Luke for fighting with each other over who would push Mateo in the stroller.

Actually, Joe had such a good time at the fair that he actually took Mateo back last Saturday by himself. Yes - a boy's outing. Every year Joe's friends and their sons spend a Saturday at the fair and Joe decided he was going to take Taye and go along. Joe and Mateo left at 6:50 a.m. and didn't get home until about 2:30 p.m.

Again, Mateo was an angel and had a great time hanging out with the boys. He even had his first glass of milk thanks to Uncle Travis not paying attention. Travis set his cup down on Mateo's tray and all of a sudden noticed that Mateo had the cup and was drinking from it, as well as milk all down his face/shirt. Evidently the "uncles" are out of practice not realizing just what a 10 month old can get their hands on.

And one more thing. Joe and Travis have a thing for hot food. Their motto - the hotter the better. Well, here's a nice little video of Joe and Travis conquering the Ghost Wing challenge. Evidently ghost peppers are supposed to be one of the hottest peppers in the world.

oh my GOSH ~ this post was so cute ~ but, first i do have to say that i, nana, did not fight over the stroller---i, nana, very nicely took over from papa at one time when papa was toooooo busy looking at things & just "kinda" not watching where he was pushing mateo. so, more or less i may have saved people at the fair from being run over :) :) we had a great time ~~ now, to the video with joe -- that was AWESOME!! way to go joe & travis. and how cute of mateo just sitting in his stroller smiling--feeling cool to be with the "big guys" :) adorable ~~ & then how proudly joe says to the gal "that's my son" toooooo precious ~~

ok, i have more to add ~~ i went back to look at the pictures on this post (all are adorable) but the best is joe taking a picture of the guys sitting down & i thought, too bad joe didn't aske someone walking around to take the picture so he could be in it & THEN, i looked closer & actually, joe IS in the picture. he's in the reflection!!!!! tooooo funny ~ loves, nana
